The Northwards Approach

With a steady, personalised plan you’ll develop the strength, confidence and understanding to be able to master your own workouts.

In the beginning, we'll likely spend more time together as we build the knowledge to move well and train safely, as well as habit and routine. But my job is to help you become independent—to give you the skills and self-belief to take ownership of your own health.

As your confidence grows, we'll gradually reduce our sessions, with you doing more on your own while knowing I'm there to guide and support you when needed.

And if you're not quite ready? That's okay too. Everyone moves at their own pace. Some people thrive with ongoing accountability and regular coaching, and there's absolutely room for that. The journey is about finding what works for you, not following a rigid formula.

Northwards is about empowerment and self-direction and my goal is to help you trust your own body again.

Independence with the reassurance that support is always there if and when you need it.

Pricing ranges from $90 to $110 per hourly session, depending on frequency.

The road that brought me here and why I do what I do…

Hello, I'm Sasha.

I'm the person behind Northwards Personal Training.

I'm 57 years old.

That doesn't just mean I've been around for a while. It means I've lived enough life to know that health isn't separate from everything else. It's woven through careers, relationships, children, grief, joy, stress and change.

I'm a mother of three.

I've been pregnant. I've recovered after birth. I've lived through the beautiful, exhausting years when everyone else's needs come first and looking after yourself slips further and further down the list.

I've lived in four different countries.

I know what it's like to start over. To rebuild routines. To feel like you've lost your bearings and have to work out who you are in a new place.

Before fitness, I worked in the corporate world.

I know what it feels like to spend your days racing from one responsibility to the next, telling yourself you'll look after yourself "when things settle down."

I've spent more than twenty years as a personal trainer.

I've worked with hundreds of people—women and men, complete beginners and experienced athletes, people who love exercise and people who dread it. Every one of them arrived with a different body, a different story and different reasons for being there.

I'm still learning.

The body is endlessly fascinating, and our understanding of health continues to evolve. I never want to be the trainer who thinks they know everything. Curiosity makes me a better coach.

I have ridden the wild beast that is peri-menopause and menopause.

For all my years in the fitness industry, nothing prepared me for how completely it could knock me sideways. The confusion. The frustration. The feeling that the things that had always worked... suddenly didn't. The loss of confidence. Feeling out of control. And lost.

That experience changed me.

It reminded me that knowledge matters, but so does compassion. Sometimes people don't need someone to tell them to try harder. They need someone who understands where they are, who quietly believes in them, and who is prepared to walk alongside them for a while.

I've needed that person in my own life.

Now, I hope I can be that person for someone else.

Not to promise a new you, but to help you reconnect with the person you've always been.
